Monthly Archives: August 2012

If you all haven’t been tracking the skies lately, the moon has been making quite a statement, and for good reason. August is a month of two full moons- or better known as the blue moon. Be sure to check it out today. There won’t be another one till 2015 (and in 2018, there should be two blue moons in one year!)

For those of you who are in the Bay or will be in the Bay anytime between Sept. 1, 2012 to Jan 6, 2013, be sure to check out the new SF MOMA exhibit: Field Conditions.

From September 1, 2012, through January 6, 2013, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) presents an exhibition that bends and blurs the boundaries between conceptual art and theoretical architecture, using the notion of the “field” to frame an investigation into the construction, representation, and experience of space. Field Conditions aggregates nearly 30 works in various media by both contemporary artists and practicing architects, including Tauba Auerbach, Daniel Libeskind, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Sol LeWitt, and Lebbeus Woods, among others.

French photographer laurent chehere  uses inspiration from the forgotten homes of the Belleville and Menilmontant neighborhoods in Paris to create his latest exhibit, “Flying Houses” at the Galerie Paris-Beijing.
“Combining his love of architecture and exploration, the series of “Flying Houses” not only urges the viewer to readdress the obscure beauty of urban houses, but also to think of the transitory experience of being lifted away from your permanent residence.”  huffington post

Friends,

We’ve got a new project in our heads. These summer days made the world larger than it’s ever been before; our loved ones strewn across cities we’ve only ever dreamed about, having adventures with people we may never meet. An exciting time for everyone, no doubt, but our imaginations run away from us and we want to know the magic things about your everydays: what makes you happy and what makes you wonder, what makes you smile and what makes you remember.

Tell us about your city. We need you to help clarify the obscure and obscure the clear, to tell us stories of places that are not quite fiction but not make-believe either. Be fictive or creative or pragmatic or not, describe the sunset without using colors, paint the sky from the perspective of a bird.

We’re asking for an image and a caption as the very minimums.
